I think this is the most disgusting and pointless book that t have ever seen published. . The author/authors have made it clear that this is not a 'novel', but a book written to discredit and humiliate others. I would not recommend it nor waste my time or money on it.

Blackbeard Curse The Crystal Coast Mysteries by Chessen Parker edition by Chessen Parker Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

This is one of the best novels I have read in a while. It was both enticing and intriguing to the very end.
The writer definitely had some great insight on how to hold the readers attention. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting and enticing new read. My new favorite book!!!
This book needs quite a bit more work. The plot, while promising, seems to drag through mud before delivering near the end. At one point, it seemed a later chapter had been written first, as an earlier character was totally reintroduced. There was also an awful lot of extraneous material that did not contribute to the story.
The negative reviewers make very valid points. First, the writing is poor. Most notably, there are far too many long sentences. You cannot read some of them aloud without stopping to take a breath! There is also excessive use of pronouns. As one reviewer pointed out, it is extremely difficult to keep the characters straight as a result! UGH!! Suggestion please keep your day job! Personally, I could not make it through the very first chapter without totally losing track of who was doing what. Bottom line unacceptable in a novel!
The story may be fine, but I found this book a very difficult read. I encourage the author to find a good editor (one who has a grasp of grammar).
"So how does this work? Do we scowl at the mistress like in First Wives Club?" David joked as they crossed to the sidewalk in front of First Baptist Church, nestled on the corner of Bridges Street and Eighth Street, diagonally across from the First United Methodist Church, but otherwise surrounded by large, ambling, early twentieth century small-town residences representing a hodgepodge and blend of arts and crafts and American Victorian architecture.

One sentence. Ridiculous. Life's too short. I'm going to request a refund of my $4.99. Sorry.
I really enjoyed this mystery!
I am a North Carolina native and it was great to read the descriptions of places that I have visited for years.
The characters are engaging and the flavor of their interactions was so true to the life of a small Southern town.
The plotting is quite good as well, and the mystery has more than a few twists & turns leading to an exciting resolution.
This is the author's first novel, and I look forward to watching her skills develop even more in future books.

My favorite author's in the cozy mystery field are Laura Childs & Joanne Fluke.
The atmosphere in Blackbeard's Curse reminds me of the way Laura Childs captures New Orleans in her scrapbooking mysteries, and the characters and relationships are drawn with the kind of fullnes and humor that I so enjoy in the Hannah Swensen mysteries.

I recommend this delightful cozy!
Try it... you won't be disappointed.
