If I were to describe this book in one word, I would not choose 'funny'; it is funny in places though that was not my overwhelming response to the book as a whole. I found this to be an easy and enjoyable read that managed to incorporate many 'difficult' issues including bullying, suicide and adoption. I often struggle to keep reading if a main character's behaviour makes me cringe - this book stopped short of that. The ending has been left open and I'd like to see a sequel. I have now bought some of Mhairi McFarlane's other books - a sign of how much I liked this one.

Who That Girl? Mhairi McFarlane 9780008135386 Books Reviews

Wow! I'm in love with Elliott, how cute is he? Have read Mhairi's other books & have just gone back & sped read them again. This is her best book yet. I agree with the other reviewers, the end could have been a tad longer.
Whilst I wouldn't describe this book as "A laugh-out-loud sparky romcom!" I thoroughly enjoyed it and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable read.
Good book, not her best though. The end feels cut short. I actually kept on moving pages thinking there had been a bug on my kindle version. The characters are great and as usual Mhairi tackles situations that happen so often in real life but are never picked up by fiction which makes it all the more endearing. Looking forward to her next book.
When you are in the mood for feel good romance with a bit of humor and what feels like real people as characters you have to read any of Mhairi's books. Absolutely loved every single book and am gutted that I don't have any more to read. Come on Mhairi get writing! 😊
I love this book. When it ended it was as if I had cold water poured over me.. 'What? Huh?' [Page forward, page backward then forward again looking for the next chapter..] Thank you Mhairi McFarlane xx
This is not a typical romance. The "hero" doesn't turn up until halfway into the book and I'm hoping the author will do as she's done once before expand the story with an extra short story.
With that said, I love the humor, I love the originality, I love the "real" people and I love the British setting.
A truly great book - just like the other books this author has written.
I am honestly so in love with this book! I admit, it is quite long but once I got to the end, I didn't really want it to end. I love this author so much because I am a sucker for romantic comedy movies and this one felt like those, except with a much better storyline and better lines that aren't overtly cheesy. There were parts of the book where I wanted to throw it because of how excited I was. Edie, the main character is so incredibly lovable and her journey throughout the book is inspirational. She's able to take back her life and sacrifice something she's always wanted because she ends up having what she's always needed (trying to be as vague as possible without giving anything away). And I love Elliot, he was such an interesting character and I am glad we didn't get to meet him until a little towards the middle, not the meaty middle, more like the start of the middle if that makes sense haha.

I found this to be an easy and enjoyable read that managed to incorporate many 'difficult' issues including bullying, suicide and adoption.
